Sydney Hiphop/Krump Classes

Melanie Hitchcock, director of Caramell (my dance crew) along with Michael from Caramell are holding Hiphop dance workshops this Sunday.

Mel and Scrappy (Darrio's protegé) will be holding Hiphop, break and krump classes in Parramatta on Saturdays starting this weekend. If you wanna learn the real stuff, this is the place to check out.

P.S. Sorry about quality of pics, it's out of my control.

Hey Trina.

I just stumbled on this website about two hours ago, looking for info about hiphop dance classes in Melbourne, and I couldn't help but get totally absorbed in your blogs. And then I freaked out when I accidentally opened up a piece that you'd written last year about your back being mangled and having a disc prolapse.

I had the exact same thing. I have no idea what I did, it could possibly have been something I did while dancing. Anyway, so I was mangled and in pain last October and then I had surgery to chop out the offensive disc

. I've only just started to get back on my feet, back at uni, and work, and easing into dancing again. I was just wondering how you're going with that? Simply because I really do empathise and was curious if you're problem had resolved itself. I really hope you didn't (don't) resort to surgery. It's a bugger.

Also( gosh I really got off track), just like Amber, I was wondering if you could tell me of some good studios that taught hiphop dancing? I'd love krumping classes, but I have a feeling that would be very dangerous to do again in my situation. Just anything in the melbourne area. Thanks and cheerios!

Hey Hail,

Wow nice to know you like some of my stuff

It seems that we have a lot in common too, although I didn't have surgery, it turns out after seeking a third opinion that my pelvis was twisted and I just had to have regular really painful bum and back massages and stretching on my back. It got better for a few months but its acting up so I'm getting massages weekly again.

Sorry to hear your situation was more extreme, but it's great to hear that you're back into dancing and that it takes more than that to stop you from dancing.

Krumping would be fine for you, just make sure you do extra stretching and warm ups, and if it does act up then maybe relax. But I know of Melbourne Music Academy on Victoria and I think Elizabeth St, and they have teachers like Alvin who is just getting better and better with his chorey, and Vince and other peeps from Rewind who just placed 8th at the International Hip Hop Dance Competition in LA so you know they're hot stuff.

They have a whole bunch of amazing dancers, and if you haven't tried House dancing, maybe give it a shot

Hey i was wondering where i could get some krump lessons i live close to Detroit but my mom wont let me go to it for lessons cause shes kinda over protective. Thanks for reading my question.

Hmmm not sure, maybe get in touch with people from the Melbourne Music Academy, they know all the dancers in Melb (I think) so they might be able to get you in touch with people in your area.
