Confessions of a Serial Dancer - by Trina

I pull the hood of my jacket over, half covering my sweaty face; I am exhausted. These are the confessions of a serial dancer.

Funk styles: Introduction to popping & locking

Skeeter Rabbit
R.I.P. Skeeter Rabbit (electricboogaloos.com)
Skeeter Rabbit from the Electric Boogaloos was one of the old school original dancers of funk styles known as popping, locking and electric boogaloo. R.I.P

Locking was created by Don Campbell aka "Campbellock" of the 'Original Lockers' in the early 1970s in Los Angeles, and others contributed to the art form by creating moves. All the steps have meaning behind them deriving from soul and funk. Popping was created by Boogaloo Sam of the Electric Boogaloo.

[Note: Tony Tones (Nu Skool Club) would like to clear up there are TWO Skeeter Rabbits, one from Electric Boogaloos and one from the Original Lockers. Now why are there two people with the same name?]

For those who don't know what Locking is, check these videos:

There's the Original Skeeter Rabbit (a locker) and Skeeter Rabbit (EBs)

the reason for shared names is due to a mix of media confusion (to OSR's detriment) and dodgy business practices... that's the worst, most plain way i can put it.

The Original Skeeter Rabbit was an Original Pioneer of the Artform of Locking who created the step "The Skeeter Rabbit in 1972, Stephan Nichols was not an Original who began useing the name Skeeter Rabbit in the Late 1970s because many people began to say that his style was simular to the Originals, In the Street subculture it is not un usual for someone to be named after their mentor, how ever the prefix of LIL or the sufix of Jr. is usually added as respect and with the approval of the mentor, Although a great dancer,Stephan's use of the name caused confusion in the history and the lack of the proper credit
