Confessions of a Serial Dancer - by Trina

I pull the hood of my jacket over, half covering my sweaty face; I am exhausted. These are the confessions of a serial dancer.

A dancing genius: Michael Jackson is Dangerous

May 16th 2006 03:21
This is probably my favourite MJ performance of all time. The costume, the choreography, the execution, musicality and creativity just blows my mind. Check the vid below.

I'm not even going to say anything.

Let us just bow our heads in respect.

Yes, he's crazy. But he's got crazy feet, too!

hi trina, i am replying in response to the prevoius anonymous comments that claims Studio 11 have stolen Michael Jackon's Choreography. first of all I am the organiser of the Eisteddfod at Penrith that Studio 11 performed this routine at. I am also a dance teacher, choreographer & adjudicator of dance. In reference to the accusations that studio 11 have stolen choreography, i have seen both the michael jacksons & studio11 routines and i can assure you they are not exactly the same. although there are some simillarities to create the michael jackson style, the choreography is not identical. i think it is truly shameful that somebody would discredit a dance studio over the internet over this. It takes a lot of years and hard work to build up a dance studios reputation, not to mention achieving a standard with a group of students that are able to win at an eisteddfods. wheather this be studio 11 or any other dance school. i have seen studio 11 over the years win at eisteddfods with several of there routines not just this michael jackson number. they could not have possible stolen all of them. i give credit where credits due and they did deserve to win. At an eisteddfod you do not win just on choreography or costuming alone, you are judged on technique how well you perform it, presentation, team work, attack, style, placings, use of stage, acrobatic skilss etc. The adjudicator was aware of the Michael Jacksons performance and he did take this in cosideration when deciding on placing studio 11 as the winner, but he believed that they were the better group in the section on the night. I do not endorse anybody who uses stolen choreography i have had my own choreography stolen, so i know how it feels. But at the end of the day, whats worse having your choreography stolen or having to be the one that has to steal it. The dance industry is very competitive and i know choreography has been stolen, however video clips, music award performances, etc inspires us dance techers with concepts and ideas for our choreography. It also gives us the tools to help the students become experienced at that style of dance, should they choose to become dancers in video clips of the future. To the anonymous person who made the previous comments i have to say if you feel so strongly about this then maybe you should contact studio 11 to discuss the matter further instead of doing things like this behind there back as an anonymous person, seeing you have no personal gain as you claim against them. if it is any consolation studio 11 apparently had another dance school steal there routines at the eisteddfod. Its the dance industry if you cant cope with it maybe you should look at involving yourself in a different carreer as i have been involved in this industry for over 38 years and it has not changed nor do i think it will. Michael Jackson is a legend & i have seen several dance studio's play tribute to him by doing routines in his honour. dance studios doing routines like this promotes the music industry and creates appreciation by the students for both the performers & there music.

I just felt this issue needed to be clarified. i dont believe Studio 11 or any other dance studio should be slandered like that over the internet, especially when its not true.

It also implied that my eisteddfod allowed this to occur and i can assure you i conduct a fair & not rigged eisteddfod. i always use highly professional adjudicators and they are aware of any imitations of professional choreographers.

i have it stated in my rules that if there is any body who has a complaint against any dance studio entered that is not adhearing to the rules, they can lodge a written complant on the day and action will be taken if the claim is found to be true. as a result the dance studio will be disqualified. the anonymous commenter could have done this instead of windging about the issue months after the event.

I dont believe she has any faith in our Australian choreographers. As an adjudicator i have seen some amazing choreography that i believe would hold its own up against choreographers of Michael Jackson. Perhaps Michael Jackson would like to see some of the dance studios routines as he may want to use their choreography instead. I am sure that Studio 11 and other Australian studios alike would love to send a copy of there routines on video to be considered for such an honour.

well one good thing has come of this i found this web site and i will be a regular viewer from now on.
i love the video clip of Michael Jackson hes fantastic isnt he.

To all those studios like Studio 11 if you can make people think your routines are as good as Michael Jackson then your doing your job right. keep inspiring those young students as we need stars of the future. they have to start somewhere just like Michael did every body has an idol they look up to and want to be like.

Hey,

That's my fav MJ dance too, he does that in the HIStory Tour aswell, got the DVD at home.

It was a hard dance to learn but got there in the end. It's way hard to find other fans, there is a new thing starting up for Aussie and Kiwi MJ fans, have you heard of it? All the fans online have been chatting about it - I'm SO stoked, because it's going to be the first in Australia! YAY! We can all meet other fans!!

Someone told me that Jason Jackson is already a member

http://www.clubmichaeljackson.com/

might meet you guys there one day.

Renee

The studio that i attend has also won various penrith esteidfodd sections as well as the fantastic soloists that practically live at the studio who have won so many large esteidfodds , we have one girl here who has never ever lost 1 esteidfodd. any way i must say that studio 11 is one of our toughest competitors who have worked so hard to get where they r now and definatly improved out of sight and i admire them for that. just because studio 11 are one of the best dance studios in the country (with one of their boys in the famous musical billy elliot) and have improved out of sight as i mentioned earlier it is really sad that an owner of their own dance studio focuses so much on other studios acheivements and still wondering why hey are not winning hmm..... GET OVER IT!
